From the Desk of the Principal

 August 20, 2019

Dear St. Peter’s Families and Friends,

Happy New Year!

I am honored to begin my 5th year serving Saint Peter’s Catholic School as your principal. I want to welcome back to school our faithful returning students and families, and offer a special, warm greeting to our new students and families. This day has been filled with excitement and joy as we are getting to know each other and learning new routines and procedures.

This year we are turning our focus on our school mission statement which clearly expresses the Catholic identity of our school:

Mission Statement:

“The mission of St Peter’s Catholic School is to prepare students to excel in life by achieving success in a lived and taught Catholic tradition of excellence. Consistent with our motto “Saints and Scholars”, we aim to produce leaders in academics and servants in faith.”

During our Teacher Work Week events, our faculty and staff studied our mission statement and engaged in an activity to break it down and discuss how it will be integrated into the classroom. We have posted our new mission statement banner in the entryway of the school, and each classroom has posted the mission statement as well. Our teachers, staff, and administration will align everything we do, think, and say to the Saint Peter’s Catholic School mission statement.

We look forward to a school year that is filled with many adventures, opportunities for learning and for growing closer to Jesus, and building friendships. Over the course of the summer, we have had some staffing changes and are very excited about welcoming our new staff members who are eager to begin implementing innovative and exciting lesson plans and academic adventures.

This year we will begin our 3rd year of STEM/STREAM infusion, working toward our goal of STEM certification through S²TEM Centers SC- Lowcountry Region. We will be implementing the National Junior Honor Society for our 6th grade students, as well as a new school-wide virtues program for all of our students.

A note to families from the Diocese of Charleston:

In order to support the future growth and development of our beloved school, Fr. Trapp has requested to partner with the Diocese of Charleston Catholic Schools Office in school administration efforts.  You may notice the Diocese taking a more active role in school administration with Ann Feltner, our Principal of 4 years.  We look forward to this collaboration and are excited about the coming years at St. Peters Catholic School.

Please pray for us as we begin our journey toward becoming Saints and Scholars in a new faith-filled and fruitful 2019-2020 school year.

Thank you and God bless,

Ann M Feltner, Principal
