Sunday, September 15th is the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Traditionally, the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows commemorates the seven sorrows in the Heart of Mary as recorded in Scripture:

  1. The prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:33–35)
  2. The flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15)
  3. Loss of the Child Jesus for three days (Luke 2:41–50)
  4. Mary meets Jesus on His way to Calvary (Luke 23:27–31; John 19:17)
  5. Crucifixion and Death of Jesus (John 19:25–30)
  6. The body of Jesus being taken from the Cross (Luke 23:50–54; John 19:31–37)
  7. The burial of Jesus (Isaiah 53:8–9; Luke 23:50–56; John 19:38–42; Mark 15:40–47)

Then Simeon blessed them and said to
Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to
cause the falling and rising of many in Israel,
and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so
that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed.
And a sword will pierce your own soul, too.”

—Luke 2:34-35

Thank you to those who attended our back-to-school night last night, we appreciate your involvement and support!

Week 5 is behind us, and progress reports are coming up on Monday! Please be sure to encourage your child to be the best student that they can be, academically, socially, and spiritually. We are living in uncertain times, so let our families be the guidepost for others.

This morning, we had a very productive visit from two members of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Public Affairs Office. They conducted an inspection of our school campus and buildings, in regard to safety protocols that are in place, and areas where we can improve. We will be conducting staff safety training with law enforcement in early October, and we will provide more information to you very soon.

Thank you to our parent teams who make it possible for our students to have Tuesday Pizza, and Thursday Chik-fil-a, lunches in the Social Hall. We are very grateful for your dedication and support; however, we do need more help, especially on Thursdays! Please consider volunteering for this activity, so that we are able to stay in the Social Hall for lunch on those days.

Please note that it is essential that students arrive at school on time! Please be sure that your child is dropped off before 7:55 a.m. We close the entry gate to the roadway at that time, so that teachers and staff can be in the building and in their classrooms by 8:00 a.m. for prayer. If the roadway gate is closed, you will need to park and walk your child into the building. Please do not drop your child off if the gate is closed, as this is a safety issue.

Regarding Dismissal Procedures: Please use the back entry, by Grayco, the rectory/chapel/parking lot to avoid cars backing up on Lady’s Island Drive/SC802.

I want to thank our new music teacher, Terri Ingram, Mrs. Leslie Gereghty, and the children’s choir for a beautiful and moving 911 memorial Mass. Our 6th grade students did a fantastic job as lectors and serving our First Responders at the reception.

We would love for families to join us every Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. for our Children’s Liturgy; all are welcome!

God bless,

Ann M Feltner
